General Purpose: With an enthusiastic attitude and professional demeanor the Bell Attendant is responsible for creating one of the first impressions of the Francis Marion Hotel to our guests. This means establishing an excellent level of service and attitude equivalent or better to Four-diamond service levels and exceeding guest satisfaction at all levels. The primary responsibilities beyond service levels include but are not limited to assisting guests with their luggage, assisting as a valet driver, and providing the front desk with any additional assistance.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• To serve as the most visible, attentive, and welcoming associate to guests upon arrival or departure
• Maintain an impeccable grooming appearance and work uniform
• Escort guests to and from their respective rooms
• Assist guests by delivering their luggage or any other personal items
• Parking or retrieving guest vehicles with the utmost care
• Delivering guest messages, amenities, or other items as required
• Performing special guest services such as maintaining a clean front entrance, giving directions, and providing guest with information of the hotel and surrounding areas.
• Ability to lift over 70 pounds
• Must be able to stand for the entire shift

Other Duties/Responsibilities
• Answering phones
• Polishing bell carts, taking out trash/recycling, and keeping the valet lanes neat and organized
• Respond to all guests for assistance, directions, and hotel facilities information
• Report all safety hazards and suspicious person or activities to Security
• Know all safety and emergency procedures and your role in assisting during these times
• Attend all quarterly required meetings and other department meetings as needed.

Knowledge/Experience:
Previous customer service experience in a high volume setting is preferred but not necessary. Previous valet experience is also preferred. A valid driver’s license is required and a clean driving record is required. Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Ability to work under varying weather conditions
• Be able to make quick decisions and possess good judgment
• Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles

Education or Formal Training:
• High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent previous work experience is required
