Position Summary: The Director of Sales is responsible for the daily sales efforts and is responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication and the development of customers for the property including, rooms, food outlets, and events. In addition, they are responsible for market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, direct sales, marketing, and public relations.

Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000, bonus eligible

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares Sales Reports and Annual Sales & Marketing Plan
  • Creates effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnel
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • Assist General Manager, Regional DOS/Dir Marketing in preparation of the marketing, advertising, sales plans, and annual budget; manages within approved plans and budgets
  • Work with Revenue Management to develop rates, group sales deployment strategies
  • Ability to effectively listen, communicate with internal and external customers
  • Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel within the local community
  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and meeting/banquet sales team and sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations
  • Proven track record in prospecting/closing new business
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and manage competing priorities
  • Possess well-developed leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to build and maintain business relationships
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred
  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 years sales/hotel front desk

Experience

  • Two (2) years previous hotel sales or sales management experience
  • Previous Director of Sales experience preferred

Hours required

General M-F workweek though may vary based on hotel needs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25lbs
