POSITION SUMMARY:

A Line Cook works under the direction of the Executive Chef to prepare the ingredients, condiments, sauces or garnishes that go into different dishes. They help the kitchen save time, improve efficiency and boost productivity.

While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations.
Preparing food which includes cleaning, cutting and prepping the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks.
Plating prepared foods based on the senior chef’s guidance.
Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
Washing and cleaning the kitchen, cooking utensils, equipment and storing the equipment at the end of shift.
Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations at all times
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

NONE.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a high volume, fast paced restaurant as line cook.

Skills:

Must be able to speak, write and understand English
Have a complete understanding of the fundamentals of the culinary operation
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
Ability to work with an around kitchen equipment
Must be able to work with and around a diverse group of food, seasonings, etc.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
Ability to work under pressure
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent listening skills
