Position Summary: The Sales Manager works alongside the Sales Director and is essentially responsible for increasing sales at the hotel by driving more business. The hotel Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting for new business, while maintaining and nurturing old customers and accounts and corporate/group business.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, bonus eligible

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Essential Job Functions

  • Gain a deep understanding of the hotel’s existing and potential client base
  • Develop marketing materials for the hotel and implement/oversee the hotel’s marketing program including effective use of social media
  • Proactively sell and conduct tours for meeting and banquet space while providing information on hotel
  • Proactively reaches out to organizations, associations and companies that may require hotel rooms and/or meeting space for conferences and events
  • Network with wedding planners and special event planners to increase bookings for these types of events (this is also often done by the Catering Sales Manager or the Event Manager)
  • Work closely with the Revenue Manager to ensure proposed rate negotiates meet the hotel’s goals and also to ensure the proper distribution of room sales across various market segments Answer sales phone calls when sales team is not available
  • Respond to all sales inquiries and follow-up on all customer needs accurately, timely and in a professional manner
  • Meet or exceed activity goals determined by GM or Sales Leader
  • Type correspondence, reports and necessary forms (i.e. contracts, prepare proposals, etc.) as directed
  • Conduct site visits

 

Education

High school or equivalent education required.

Bachelors’ Degree preferred.

Experience

Two (2) years previous hotel sales experience

Hours required

Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Comfortable standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, and squatting for extended periods of time.
